Welcome to Film My Memories

Your life story. Properly recorded. Beautifully kept.

About

My name is Mark Gandy and I have always had a strong interest in film and music. Over ten years ago, I managed to convince my parents to let me film their life stories for prosperity. They have both lead extraordinary lives, and the more I delved into their pasts, the more important I realised their stories would be for future generations of our family.

Shortly after completing the film, my Dad celebrated a significant birthday at his local golf club and we premiered the film in front of 100 assembled guests. I am pleased to say the film went down a storm, with the room on their feet applauding a man they had known for years, but who was characteristically modest about his achievements. That lead me to think, how good it would be to spread the love, uncover other peoples life stories, and help protect those precious memories, hence the concept for ‘Film My Memories’.

Intro

There are certain things about the people we love, that don’t always show up in photos or documents. The way they laugh halfway through a story, the pauses, the expressions and the details no one thinks to write down.

Film My Memories exists to capture those things – properly, before they’re lost.

I personally interview and produce every film. There are no crews, no scripts, and no rush. Just time, care, and a conversation that feels natural and unforced.

The result is a life story film your family can return to again and again – not just to just remember what happened, but to remember them.

Who’s it for?

Film My Memories is usually arranged by:

– Adult children wanting to record their parents’ stories

– Families marking a milestone birthday

– Siblings coming together to create a meaningful gift

– Families who’ve realised there may not be ‘later’

You don’t need to prepare anything in advance, you don’t need to be ‘good on camera’ and you don’t even know where to start.

That’s my job.

What this is (and isn’t)

This isn’t a documentary for TV, and it isn’t a quick video shoot.

It’s a guided conversation, filmed professionally and edited with care, designed so that future generations can hear stories in the person’s own words and voice.

People often tell me afterwards that they were surprised by how enjoyable, even comforting, the experience was.

That’s exactly how it should feel.

“We just wanted to thank Mark for taking time to create a warm, thoughtful film, that we will treasure. The process has been really straight forward, and the attention to detail impressive. Thank you so much.”
